Having a hot tub in your backyard doesn’t only benefit the adults in your life – it’s perfect for family activities, too. Your kids can hop in with you making it a family event anytime you like! While you should be careful of how hot their body temperature is, just turn down the temperature of the hot tub and you can still have a great time together. Tredway Pools Plus has 5 family activities for the hot tub you have to try out!
Family Activities for the Hot Tub
1. Family Meetings
Hold your family meetings in the hot tub! It will automatically make everyone feel at ease. This is especially important if you are discussing something heavier. Maybe, like us, you just like to have time with your kids at the end of the day to talk through the highs and lows of the day. If so, your hot tub is the perfect place to do that too.
With the warm water and jets, releasing tension from the day will be simple. Connect with all of your loved ones in this way to get huge benefits emotionally and physically.
2. Movie Night
So long as it is not too cold out, you can set up a movie night to enjoy with your family. Relax in the hot tub for a while, have some cozy robes to wrap up in when you exit and comfortable places to sit. If your kids are anything like ours, they will have a ball hopping in and out of the hot tub while watching the movie. Throw in a fire pit and some snacks and you will really have a fun night.
3. Game Night
If movies aren’t your thing, then try a game instead. For younger kids you can play I Spy while soaking in the tub. Or try 20 questions or charades if you have older teens. You can also invest in waterproof playing cards or rubber duckies for water races!
Any game you like to play that doesn’t require a board to be placed in the middle of a table would be fair game. We love the idea of charades so that your kids have opportunities to get out of the hot tub for their turn and allow their body temperature to cool.
4. Swim Practice
If your kids are still younger, they can practice some basic swimming skills in the hot tub. Blowing bubbles or holding on to a side and kicking are great ways to get those beginner techniques in while they feel safe in the small tub and shallow water. This can build a lot of confidence in more anxious children.
5. Hydrotherapy or Stress Relief
If anyone in your family is suffering from sore muscles or stress, a good family soak will allow them space to relive some of that. The jets and warm water have been proven to help with many of these types of issues! Building these types of self-care habits as a family will certainly be good for everyone involved.
